Exhibit description | Romantinės dailės tendencijos ryškios Mykolo Elvyro Andriolio (1836–1893) kūryboje. Vilniuje gimęs italų kilmės dailininkas įgijo puikų akademinį išsilavinimą. 1857 jis baigė Peterburgo dailės akademiją, vėliau tobulinosi Šv. Luko dailės akademijoje Romoje. M. E. Andriolis daug keliavo ir po Lietuvą, piešė architektūros ir dailės paminklus, liaudies tipus. Kaip aktyvus 1863 metų sukilimo dalyvis buvo suimtas ir ištremtas į Viatką (1868). Po 1871 amnestijos gyveno Varšuvoje. M. E. Andriolis iliustravo lenkų rašytojų knygas, bendradarbiavo žurnaluose „Tygodnik Ilustrowany“ ir „Kłosy“. 1883–1886 dirbo Paryžiaus Firmin Didot leidykloje, iliustravo V. Šekspyro, A. Diuma, D. F. Kuperio ir kt. knygas. M. E. Andriolio pieštus estampus ir iliustracijas raižė žymūs prancūzų ir lenkų ksilografai. Medžio raižinys, vaizduojantis rašantį vienuolį, sukurtas Varšuvos laikotarpiu. Jis pasižymi vaizdingu praėjusios epochos atmosferos perteikimu, išraiškinga tipažo charakteristika, puikia, meistriška raižysena. |
