“On the Perches of Politics“
Exhibition presents the set of 32 caricatures, drawn by Adomas Varnas, one of the most famous Lithuanian artists of the twentieth century. Painter, graphics artist, photographer, promoter of folk art and educator of fine arts, he has created many portraits and allegorical compositions throughout his entire creative life. This set of caricatures from the third decade of the twentieth century is kept at the Vytautas the Great War Museum. The graphic works could be characterized by ironic mood, decorative expression in composition and allegorical reflections. The political and public figures of the first independent Lithuanian state are portrayed in these caricatures.
